Biography:

Dr. Chun-Cheng Lin was born in Kaohsiung City (the largest harbor city in Taiwan) on March 21, 1978, and grew up there until 1996. He received the B.S. degree in Mathematics, M.B.A. degree in Business Administration, and Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering from National Taiwan University (NTU), Taipei, Taiwan, in 2000, 2007, and 2009, respectively. He has been a Distinguished Professor of Industrial Engineering and Management (since 2020) and served as an Associate Dean of College of Management (since 2017) at National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University (NYCU) (formerly, National Chiao Tung University, NCTU), which he initially joined in 2011. He has also been an adjunct Chair Professor of Business Administration at Asia University, Taiwan (since 2020). He was an Assistant Professor of Computer Science at University of Taipei (2010-2011) and National Kaohsiung University of Science and Technology (2009-2010). His main research interests include smart manufacturing, metaheuristic algorithms, machine learning, wireless networks, Internet of things, as well as computational management science.

He received the 2019 Outstanding Research Award from the Ministry of Science and Technology (科技部傑出研究獎), only given to the top 76 researchers across various disciplines in Taiwan; the 2020 K. T. Li Breakthrough Award (李國鼎穿石獎) for his achievement in computer science in Taiwan; the 2021 Outstanding Electrical Engineering Professor Award (傑出電機工程教授獎) from the Chinese Institute of Electrical Engineers (CIEE), Taiwan; and the 2022 Indutrial Engineering Medal (工業工程獎章) from the Chinese Institute of Industrial Engineers (CIIE), Taiwan. He was listed under both the “Career-long World’s Top 2% Scientists (1960-2020/2021)" and "2020/2021 Single Year World’s Top 2% Scientists" categories in the "2020 World's Top 2% Scientists" list. He also received Outstanding Young Electrical Engineer Award, Outstanding Young Industrial Engineer Award, Outstanding Youth Award from Computer Society of ROC, Outstanding Youth Award from Taiwan Association of Systems Science and Engineering, and Mr. Lu Feng-Zhang Memorial Award from Chinese Management Association, for interdisciplinary achievements during his early research career. In addition, he received four NCTU Excellent Teaching Awards, and three Research Projects for Excellent Young Scholars and Excellent Research Project Poster Award from Ministry of Science and Technology.

He has served for some academic societies. He has been the President of the Operations Research Society of Taiwan (ORSTW) (also, INFORMS Taiwan Chapter) since 2022; a director of Chinese Institute of Industrial Engineers (CIIE), Taiwan; and a director of Association of Algorithm and Computation Theory (AACT), Taiwan. He is an IEEE senior member, and served as the treasurer of IEEE Taipei Section (2017-2019). He served on organizing committees of many conferences (including WALCOM 2023, ORSTW 2022, SGIoT 2020, WiCON 2019, CMCT 2019, WiCON 2018, WALCOM 2017, Qshine 2015, and CGIV 2012).
